EXECUTIVE BOARD

At their recent meeting, Rev. Buchanan presented the idea of a workshop on grief and the possibility of a UU discussion group on the campus in the coming year.

  • Treasurer Jefferson Westwood discussed our strong financial position, and the Board reviewed the proposed annual budget prepared by the Finance Committee.
  • The Stewardship Committee reported that 60% of the pledges were in.
  • Our delegate to the General Assembly has been certified, and the Board discussed having a second delegate who could participate remotely.
  • Several fundraising ideas were discussed.
  • The meeting concluded with discussion of the annual business meeting scheduled for June 11.

If you have business to bring before the board, please contact the board president or the board secretary well in advance of the meeting so the item can be added to the agenda. You may attend the meeting or send your ideas in writing to the board president or secretary.

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua is served by an Executive Board of seven voting members (see detail below). The Executive Board has general charge of the property of the congregation and the conduct of all of its business affairs and the control of its administration, including the appointment of committees.

Each year at the annual meeting in May or June, voting members of the congregation elect three members of the Executive Board:

  • A Vice-President(who becomes President the following year), a Secretary and one Member-at-Large are elected for two-year terma that begin in odd numbered years (e.g. July 1, 2015).
  • A Vice-President (who becomes President the following year), a Treasurer and one other Member-at-Large are elected for two-year terms that begin in even number years (e.g. July 1, 2016).

The Executive Board holds regular monthly meetings. Special meetings shall be held at the call of the President, or upon written request of three members of the Board.

ALL OFFICERS AND BOARD MEMBERS SHALL:

  1. Attend board meetings and be prepared for meetings by reviewing the minutes and reports when received, reviewing the agenda when received, and doing assigned tasks before the next meeting.
  2. Be as regular in Sunday worship service attendance as possible.
  3. Be attentive to newcomers.
  4. Facilitate communication between UUCNC members and the board.
  5. Keep informed of UU issues and activities.
  6. Represent UUCNC members at board meetings.
  7. Use their talents, gifts, and abilities to the best of their ability to further the well-being of the UUCNC and its members.
  8. Keep growing in the Unitarian Universalist faith.
